Daniele Rustioni conducts the world premiere of Patrice Rushen’s "Keepers of the Krown". Kaleidoscopic and cinematic, "Keepers of the Krown" is a musical work born from the interaction of artistic disciplines. The title refers to an art installation created for the 2024 Venice Biennale by Lauren Halsey, a Los Angeles–based artist and fan of Patrice Rushen’s music, that consists of six monuments meant to depict Rushen’s likeness along with those of five other important figures in the artist’s life. When asked about how the artwork influenced her music, the composer answered, “It is my hope that 'Keepers of the Krown' captures the majesty and spirit of how artistic disciplines intersect and inform.”
